The door opens in year two.

Mujinbon’s first year is the editor writing alone — proving, to itself, what “a piece worthy of Mujinbon” is. Outside contributions open in the second year, once that voice is firm.

Then Mujinbon takes not finished manuscripts but a pitch — the question you mean to pursue, the deeper layer it reaches, the shape and length, in brief. We look for endurance over timeliness, depth over summary. Editing is collaboration, with at least two rounds of revision. And we pay for the work — there is no unpaid publication.
